Privacy Policy
Re-rack (“Re-rack,” “we,” “us”) is a workout-logging app for iPhone, developed by Caden Simmons. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the app. The short version: Re-rack is built to keep your data on your own device.
Information we do not collect
- We do not require you to create an account or provide your name, email, or phone number.
- Your workout history (exercises, sets, reps, weights, holds, PRs) is stored locally on your device. We do not upload or store it on our servers.
- We do not sell your data, and we do not show ads inside the app.
- Your workout log is never used for advertising, shared with advertisers, or linked to an advertising profile.
Information processed to make features work
Voice and text logging. When you log a set by voice, speech is transcribed on your device. The resulting text (for example, “bench press 225 for 6”) is sent to our AI provider, Google (Gemini API), to identify the exercise, equipment, and movement type. To improve accuracy, the request may also include your own list of logged exercise names and your last few sets, so references like “one more of those” resolve correctly. We do not send or store your audio recordings, and this text does not include your name or contact details. See Google’s API terms and privacy policy. If you log by typing instead, only the text you enter is processed the same way.
Location (optional). If you grant location permission, Re-rack uses your approximate location on your device to calculate local sunrise, sunset, and moon times for the animated sky background. This location data is not transmitted to us or any third party, and the app works without it.
Purchases and subscriptions. Re-rack is sold through Apple’s In-App Purchase system. Payments are processed by Apple, and we never see your card details. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status, identified by a random, app-generated ID (not your name or Apple ID). See RevenueCat’s privacy policy and Apple’s privacy policy.
Measuring our advertising (optional, and you are asked first). We run ads for Re-rack on other platforms, and we need to know which ones bring people to the app so we don’t keep paying for ones that don’t. Two things do that:
- Apple’s SKAdNetwork. Built into iOS, on by default, and privacy-preserving by design: Apple reports installs to the ad network in aggregate. It does not identify you and there is nothing to opt out of because there is nothing about you in it.
- The advertising identifier (IDFA), only if you allow it. When you first open Re-rack, iOS asks whether the app may track you. If, and only if, you say yes, we pass your device’s advertising identifier to RevenueCat, which reports subscription events (trial started, subscription purchased) to the ad platform the install came from. Today those are Meta and TikTok. This is “tracking” as Apple defines it, which is why you are asked.
What is sent is the fact that an install or a subscription happened, and the identifier that lets it be matched to an ad you were shown. Your training log is never part of it. Not your exercises, not your weights, not your records, not your name. Nothing in the app is withheld or degraded if you say no, and you can change your answer at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. We also record a few milestones (finished setup, logged a first set, started a trial, subscribed) against your random RevenueCat ID so we can see where people drop off.
We do not use any advertising SDK inside the app, and no third party collects data from Re-rack in the background.
Data retention and deletion
Because your log is stored on your device, you control it. Deleting the app removes your local data. You can export or back up your data at any time from the app’s Profile screen. To restore purchases on a new device, use “Restore Purchases,” which checks your subscription status via Apple/RevenueCat.
Children’s privacy
Re-rack is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will address it.
Your choices and rights
Since we don’t maintain personal profiles on our servers, most control is in your hands on the device (delete, export, revoke location permission in iOS Settings, and turn tracking off under Privacy & Security → Tracking). For any questions about your data, or requests under laws like the GDPR or CCPA, contact us at the email below.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new “Last updated” date.
